The “Big Horses”

Depending on your point of view, the 1971, 1972, and 1973 Ford Mustang are either the last of the great 70’s muscle cars that are widely underappreciated in today’s market or a symbol of everything that was wrong with Detroit in the early 70’s.

In its day, this fourth-generation series was roundly criticized as oversized, overweight, and overwrought. It was undeniably the biggest, heaviest, most “styled” Mustang ever. Sales were the lowest of any Mustang to that point, yet the three-year total was nearly 410,000, a more than respectable figure for the time.

Today, the 71-73’s are starting to gain the aknowledgment and respect that they deserve from Mustang fans and collectors around the world!
